Why I Teach
I met a lady during my first Christmas in cork while working in a little jewellery shop. We chatted over making things and she really influenced my opinions on sharing.
You see sometimes in the craft world we keep things to ourselves thinking it will help us get ahead. Industry secrets.
This lady taught crochet and not just any crochet this is high level crochet. In one of our many conversations she explained how important it is to share what you know with others. You may be the person that through sharing your skills will inspire and encourage others. Everyone will have that teacher or person that has made a positive impact on them.
This lady has done some amazing work in her community and for Cork and is held in high esteem. If she is working on a project and something is needed. She says to just put it out there, and people will respond and help provide what’s needed.
I kept this with me, even when working all the years in retail. I want people to believe in themselves and achieve things they never thought was possible.
Teaching is a joy. To show someone how to make something they didn’t think they could. To open up a work of possibilities. To encourage and inspire someone. That’s magic.
Power of positivity.
Where I Teach
You can find me teaching classes at Benchspace Cork Since 2022.
I teach bite sizes classes that last 3 to 4 hours. These classes are great for beginners. Come in and become absorbed in creating you own piece to proudly take home.
If you want to explore deeper into the world of jewellery making, I would recommend checking out our Design & Make courses.
Each course starts with the exploration of a source. Leading into developing designs where a final unique piece is made. Through the course there are mini projects to introduce techniques and build skills. Each Design & Make course has different mini projects allowing for a wide range of techniques to be encountered.
Get in touch if you don't see a class you fancy. I have coordinated a wide range of classes delivered within the Cork community.

Beaded jewellery Tutor
After the success of the children’s class the parents group wanted to learn how to make jewellery too. I taught them the beautiful beads course.
10 week course

Feb 2006 – Dec 2007, Ballincollig Community School, Co. Cork.
Silver Jewellery Tutor
I created a 10 week evening course where the student starts the design process by working within a sketchbook exploring a chosen source. They explore and develop ideas from this source to create a final design to be made out of silver. The students learn basic silversmithing skills to create their design. Each student makes a piece of silver jewellery which is truly unique and individual.
This course has been well received and I have taught the course in C.S.N for 6 terms and in Ballincollig for 1 term.
Nov 2007 – Feb 2009, North Cork enterprises, St Finbarr’s Farranferris. Redemption Rd, Cork.
Art and Craft Tutor
I created and delivered an art and craft course for adults recovering from addiction. Most of these students had not done any art since leaving school and keeping their focus was key to the course success. They worked with a variety of media exploring and developing artistic techniques. The student's gained knowledge and understanding of the creative process. At the end of each course we presented our work within the centre and other students and staff could view the work. This gave the students a real sense of achievement.
Recently I taught Beaded jewellery to Big Brother/ Big Sister this was a 1 hour class in December 2024.
Is this over sharing.... perhaps all i want to say is that I can tailor classes to suit the needs of the group. I encourage bringing in existing skills and combining them with design and exploration to create something... it doesn’t have to be jewellery.
I love the coming together and creating in a social environment it really feeds the soul.
Open to creating classes in the community.
